Running At Sunset

Wow! It was such a beautiful evening. I know this because I have dared to venture out from my air conditioned cave into the real out door world. It has been such a hot summer that the thought of stepping out for a walk, or a trip to the playground with my girls is out of the question. The drought is so bad here that going swimming in the Guadelupe River (which is what everyone in the hill country of Texas does) has been a no go because of low, frankly nasty looking stagnant water. But I have simply decided to believe that the heat is relenting and rain will soon grace us with it's presence. I have decided to run...Yes I am going to be one of those crazy people that runs and runs till it hurt, and dam it, I am going to like it. (I'm sure you can sense the deep sarcasm in that last statement). But really, I have a running buddy and for about two weeks now we have been meeting up at sunset to run our little bums off.

This painting captures how gorgeous it is here at sunset.

We change it up every day to keep it interesting as not to get bored. (It's more like the change of scenery keeps my attention off how I can't breath and that every part of my body is in pain.) We run at the High School track, and have a few other roads with great side walks and killer hills that are challenging and rewarding for us amateurs.

The best part is that I am getting active again, and one day SOON will fit into my pre-baby numero two jeans. I seriously have the best hubby who loves hanging out with the girls while I go have some "mommy time". I hope to keep it up for a while, and even supplement some circuit training, and dance into the mix. As it gets cooler during the day I know I will be taking the girls outside more and having lots of fun with them. My one year old Sophie is so close to walking, and when she starts we will be at the part all the time! Oh God I can't wait for the Fall!

All this to say "Go get in shape!" What ever it takes to get your booty movin, do it. It is so worth it, and you are worth it. This body is a Holy temple of the Lord, I shall take care of it.

God bless and sleep tight!

Tea Party Picnic

Today was a very eye opening day, and to be honest, pretty overwhelming. I think I have officially decided to start homeschooling Amelia. This seems sort-of daunting to me, and I have yet to decide on a curriculum for her. Man I wish I hadn't put this off till now. Oh we. I obviously have decided also on picking up my poor dusty old blog, and trying to put some stuff up here. I don't suppose it will be very entertaining to anyone but myself though. But there is something dear about keeping a diary or a written record of thoughts and actions of ones life somewhere whether it be on the Internet or in a notebook or whatever.

Summer is almost over, and the unrelenting heat is beginning to relent with repeated attempts at being ridiculously hot over and over. But at least we have had some breaks in the heat here in Texas the last couple of weeks. Now for some rain...Oh the thought of rain makes me feel so delighted. I want a whole week of drizzling rain so I can curl up with my girls on the couch and sip a big cup of coffee.

We celebrated Amelia and Sophia's birthdays in August and had some awesome pictures taken of them. The whole idea was to have a tea party picnic themed birthday party. It was a hit! I loved the contrast between the red and white gingham and the pink and yellow. So precious and sweet.

We had so much fun with our dear friend Jodi Carpenter. She took some pretty adorable pictures of the girls.

Amelia had her first dance class today! And did very well. I will take pictures next week of her in her new tap shoes. Oh my little dear is growing up so fast.
